One of Canterbury, New Zealand’s oldest firms, Skillings was formed in 1874 by a Blacksmith, W. Noble.  In 1896 the company was sold to J. Skilling, who expanded the business into a broader agricultural engineering company.

Post peeling is the process whereby posts are machined to produce a uniform surface for the ease of handling and chemical treatment of posts.  The process produces posts that fit within a range of specified diameters.

Post Pointing is the process whereby fence posts are pointed at one end to assist with the post being driven into the ground.  The most common post points are cone shaped formed by pushing the post into a rotating coned cutter head
